NAPERVILLE COMPANY ENABLES FUSION OF THE ARTS
Naperville, IL -- Wheatland OmniMedia showcased its many capabilities during the DuPage Symphony Orchestra’s BRS Arts Fusion Concert held Saturday November 12 at the Barbara Pfeiffer Memorial Hall on the grounds of North Central College. The concert was presented by the First National Bank of Naperville and celebrated the vibrant life of Brian R. Schultz. Brian was killed in January 2005 by a drunk driver while riding in a taxi cab in Chicago. He was president of First National Bank in Naperville and a major supporter of the arts in and around Naperville. The concert featured performances by the DuPage Symphony Orchestra, the Janice Borla Jazz Group and works from the Naperville Art League.
For the first time dazzling multi-media animations and videos were projected onto three massive screens setup at the front of Pfeiffer Hall surrounding the orchestra. The three screens were perfectly synchronized together, providing a stunning visual experience to accompany the live music performance.
“… focused and brilliant. “

Starting in August, Wheatland OmniMedia was involved in all visual aspects of the concert. Paul Walerow, producer/director and co-owner of Wheatland OmniMedia, laid out the challenges. “I was very honored and excited to be asked to participate in the concert. I knew the project would challenge every area of our company.” Walerow says. “In addition to the creativity needed to produce roughly six hours of content for the three screens, we had to develop totally new methods of creating and projecting perfectly synchronized video.” Walerow continues.
Midway through the project Wheatland OmniMedia was asked to also provide the camera work and live image switching for the night of the concert when another group pulled out. “Our portion of the concert was originally providing only the visual content for the night. Then we were asked to take over all of the media aspects of the project.” Walerow says. “This included not only projecting to the three screens but also video recording with multiple cameras and projecting the conductor and orchestra live at certain points during the night.” Walerow added.
Wheatland OmniMedia set out to develop a number of new creative and technical processes in order to achieve their goals. Computer animation techniques were developed to showcase art work from the Naperville Art League. Sophisticated techniques, the same as used on many Hollywood films, were employed to create realistic fireworks and Aurora Borealis sequences. An innovative method to project perfectly synchronized video was developed. And new high-tech video processors, such as those used in major entertainment venues, were installed to control the synchronized projection, live switching, and video taping.
All of this would have been prohibitively expensive had a large “down town” media company been in charge. Wheatland OmniMedia used a combination of passionate creative ability, significant technical know how, and plain old common sense to keep the costs low. They were able to provide a world-class multi-media experience for a fraction of the original budget.
Wheatland OmniMedia now wants to make this significant multi-media capability available to all of its clients. “I want to make this wonderful new multi-media production and projection capability available to a wide range of companies and organizations that currently think they cannot afford it.” Walerow says. “By capitalizing on the research and development we did for the concert, we can produce some incredible imagery and dramatic presentations at a much lower cost than was possible just six months ago.” Walerow concludes.
